I have pointed this out before, but I’ll do it again. I was asked last night at the bi monthly meeting of the Knytes-of-Anarchy, by a prospect member , why we are doing up a radio station at all, since there are many already on the air in the valley. There are two reasons for our radio station, and eventual Hazzard County style newspaper by the same title as this blog. The simple reason is there is, albeit a real minority, but still people in our area even region that don’t walk that LDS path and are a bit higher octane, than others. Essentially rebels with a real cause. If there were other media outlets, Radio, Newspaper, even Television that would voice our ideas and publicize our events and news, I’d sell through the club, the license and construction permit, faster than Boss Hogg eating gravy covered grits.
The sad fact is there are so many in media outlets, that would rather, pass by the Knytes-of-Anarchy, along with the other spin off’s of the club including the AyreWolvez Military Aviation Association, the Deere Dazzlerz Association etc, than risk a boycott on their TV and/or radio station, by the lily white LDS advertisers. Case-n-point. From two avenues. The area’s local cable TV carrier, for months blew the horn that they were seeking new advertisers. So the Knytes-of-Anarchy, said lets go there, knowing that the Sons-of-Anarchy would soon be on cable network FX . We wanted to feature a fine gal in tight leather, on a tricked out bike, to keep in continuity with the show we were advertising on. Guess what? Cable-One’s advertising department says , nope too racy, and shut us down faster than greased lightning. Of course we had heard that the Dukes were coming back on CMT, another cable network. To renew or origin to recruit new membership and even extending that to my own company, Hazzard County Choppers/Dixie Towing, we wanted to do a ad with a local Daisy Duke or dressed just like her. Guess what? Yep, Cable-One says too racy. Same song from the local office of FoX TV. Although they could run an ad for a local cell phone texting contest for the Twin Falls County Fair , that had a super hot teen aged blonde that the camera was nearly looking down her breasts, but ours too racy? Okay , but that kind of shuck and jive just does not meld well with the Knytes-of-Anarchy, or me.
With that said and media decency thrown all over, dictated by how much you spend, and the excuse that its the fear of the LDS majority that gets our plug pulled, is why the Radio station , and our newspaper is taking flight. Now the fact that at first the station will be ran at my own house until we get the place where KDOH, will nest , is one thing. Plus the fact that I have been pestering the local daily newspaper(TIMES NEWS) for nearly two weeks to do up a article, first on the club itself and then the radio station etc, proves my point. Since no one else, or very few will do our media outreach , then we must do it ourselves.
As we say; Hazzard County Radio, is radio for the none LDS Minority. Stay Tuned.
